'Everyone was just passing him!!' Person finds a ginger kitten lying motionless on the side of the highway after it had "just given up", takes it home and gives it a new chance at life

How many times have you walked around on the street, heard a kitten crying, and kept walking? Everyone does it. Because everyone's busy with their won lives and their own responsibilities. Even those of us who stop and help a kitten in need more often than not can't do it every single time they hear one. Most people hear and walk. And that is why we celebrate the people who don't - the people who stop, who help, the kind people who do their best to help those in need. 

And today, we definitely need to celebrate. We understand this person's outrage, their confusion about why everyone was simply walking by this kitten who needed help. We sympathize. But more than anything, we are thankful. Thankful that this person took the time out of their busy life to do a kind thing - to save a life. And this itty bitty ginger kitten certainly looked like he was ready to be saved.

  • This little guy looks so, so ready to be taken home and taken care of. He knew that it was time, and thankfully, the powers that be, also known as the cat distribution system, had a human up and ready to go, ready to take that role.

    Everyone was just passing him!! He was laying on the side of the road and had just given up. He had some road rash on his eye socket (his eye is intact!!! thank god) and a really nasty, big laceration under one leg.

    Rushed him to the vet. They got him pain meds and fluids and checked him over, cleaned up his wound, and wrapped it with manuka honey. Luckily, little man seemed to have escaped any serious injury... somehow. And the cat distribution system has finally found me.

The pain meds they have him on are pretty strong (thank god, honestly... that cut was nasty :( ) and he's really out of it and has been non-stop sleeping. I suppose that's what happens when your tiny 8 week old body isn't in shock or fight or flight anymore.

  • You enjoy this while it lasts, friend, because before you know it, this little ginger firework is going to be running full-speed around your house, causing as much chaos as pawssible. Don't worry though, you are going to love ever second of the madness.

    No_Couple_7761 OP ⚫ 1d ago It just breaks my heart how lifeless he was. The second I picked him up from the road he buried his head in my shoulder on the walk back to my car. Hopefully being safe & warm & dry helps him get the good rest his body desperately needs to heal!!

But he has a nasty little habit of falling in love with every animal I want so hopefully he softens his stance over the weekend. I feel like this kitty and I were meant to be'

Just curious if you were not going to keep him would you still have had to pay for the vet? I mean idk how you couldn't keep him, but I just always wondered how that would work. I found a hurt duck once and took it to a bird sanctuary which did not cost a thing. But with cats I assume it is different?

    No_Couple_7761 OP • 1d ago I'm actually not sure! I kinda have a feeling if I wasn't able to/willing to pay for the vet they would've mercy euthanized him. Which there are fates worse than a humane death (getting pancakes in the road) but I wanted to give lil man a fighting chance.

    And I have a kitty (and a little tiny dog) at home! Miss Magnolia was my first kitty in adulthood and she is my absolute best friend. She's very curious about what I have hidden from her in my bathroom!
